Our family has been blessed beyond measure with the success we've had in the showring for almost two decades. The memories made and lessons learned from that experience still impacts my life in a positive way today. My show career ended after high school graduation in 2013, I attended college, began a career as an external auditor, got married and had two children. I was always passionate about showing pigs and I knew I wanted my children to show, but I don't think I fully understood what this industry did for me until later in life.
Myself and so many other young people that were raised around livestock have learned what responsibility, discipline, humility and hard work is. After I graduated college and entered into the workforce, I quickly realized that many people in this country lack those values that I learned years ago. This was pretty eye opening to me, it deepened my understanding of what I really gained from being raised in church and in a pig barn. I knew I had to raise my kids the same way and I thought, why stop at my own children? How can I help other families and kids while supporting the livestock industry? After a lot of prayer and discussion, my husband and I decided to ask my dad, Todd Stevenson, to partner with us and start raising show pigs. His answer was yes, of course. This business wouldn't work without him. His knowledge and passion for show pigs surpasses most and I can't thank him enough for everything he's done to help get this started and for understanding the importance of raising me in a church and a pig barn. I wouldn't be the person I am today without that upbringing.
Our goal at Stevenson Livestock is to raise show pigs that win, but there is so much more to gain than winning trophies, banners and buckles. Our mission is to invest in the futures of young people by promoting an incredible industry and glorifying God through everything we do. I hope we can raise quality hogs to help you succeed, but I pray we can help raise even higher quality children along the way.
